Active Priest in Dunkirk Placed On Leave; County DA’s Has Been Notified

DUNKIRK – The Buffalo Diocese confirmed this afternoon that Father Dennis G. Riter, Pastor of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, has been placed on leave.
The news was first reported by WIVB.
“After receiving an abuse complaint against Father Dennis G. Riter, Bishop Richard J Malone has placed Father Riter on administrative leave as an investigation continues,” said George Richert, Director of Office of Communications, Buffalo Diocese.
“Father Riter is the pastor of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Dunkirk,” said Richert “The District Attorney’s Office has been notified.”
The Diocese noted that the administrative leave is for the purpose of investigation and does not imply any determination as to the truth or falsity of the complaint.
