Mass Power Outage Reported Near Town Of Chautauqua

CHAUTAUQUA – National Grid reports over 1,400 customers are without electricity in the Towns of Ellery and Chautauqua after a failure Tuesday night. 
Shelters are set up for people who are not able to safely stay in their homes due to lack of heat caused by the outage.
A reverse 911 call was sent out earlier Tuesday notifying residents of the long-term situation.

National Grid said they contacted critical power users and are in the process of setting up a temporary substation to return power as soon as possible.
For normal users, power is expected to be restored midday Wednesday.
Red Cross officials set up shelter sites at the Maple Springs Fire Department and the Mayville Catholic Church at 24 E. Chautauqua St.
