ELLICOTT – All thirty-nine employees of the Heidenhain Corporation plant at 1 Precision Way, Mason Industrial Park, will be laid off on October 1st when the plant closes, according to a date of notice filed on New York State’s Department of Labor website April 12th.
The closure, first reported by Buffalo Business First, resulted from the corporation’s decision to shift its optics and electronics businesses from Jamestown to Illinois, as well as the country of Austria.
Heidenhain’s decision comes months after a nearby business, MD Electronics Corps, announced it was shutting down its Jamestown factory.
Eighty-seven total employees were laid off from there.
WNYNewsNow reached out to Heidenhanin’s Director of Marketing, Tom Wyatt, who was unavailable for comment.
