WILLIAMSVILLE –¬†Western New York-based grocery chain Tops Markets is closing 10 stores across the state as it goes through bankruptcy; but none in Chautauqua or Cattaraugus Counties.
Chief Executive Frank Curci said Thursday that the company has received court approval of a pension agreement with the United Food and Commercial Workers Union.
Tops plans on reconstructing under the bankruptcy.
The grocery store chain has 169 locations. The 10 being closed are in Syracuse, Rochester, Fairport, Lyons, Geneva, Fulton, Elmira and Saranac Lake. This will effect about 600 out of 14000 stores.
The 10 stores are under performing and will close by the end of November.
