County Executive To Recognize World Renowned Powerlifter From Fredonia

MAYVILLE – Chautauqua County Executive George Borrello will be present a world renowned powerlifter from Fredonia with a letter of commendation at the next Chautauqua County Legislature meeting.
Donald Reinhoudt became known across the country and the world for his accomplishments during his powerlifting career from 1971 to 1980.
During this time, he set over 50 world records, won national and world powerlifting championships, and received the title of the Strongest Man in the World after winning this competition in 1979.
Reinhoudt also served as the director of the Chautauqua County Youth Bureau from 1984 to 2007 where he was active in strengthening youth services and helping youth make positive life choices.
Through his motivational speeches, which incorporated some of his minor feats of strength such as tearing up license plates and blowing up water bottles until they popped, he was able to reach teens throughout Chautauqua County and Western New York.
“I am pleased to recognize Don’s powerlifting accomplishments, past service to Chautauqua County, and recent designation as one of the ten Best Strongmen of the Century,” said Borrello. “Growing up in Fredonia, I have great memories of Don during the height of his career. He is a living legend and a Chautauqua County treasure who has been an inspiration to us all.”
The event is June 27, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. in the Legislative Chambers of the Gerace Office Building, 3 N. Erie St. in Mayville and is free and open to the public.
