Local Bookstore To Host Award Winning Local Author

LAKEWOOD – Off the Beaten Path Bookstore, located at 28 Chautauqua Ave., will host local author, Charles Freedom Long, on Saturday, August 18, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Long writes science fiction about what might be. Psionics, aliens and other worlds, awareness and ongoing communication between the living and the dead as a fact of daily life, and how that might affect the life and philosophy of a world.
His book, Alvar’s Spear, received the Gold Medal from Next Generation Indie Book Awards. The judges had this to say:
“A rock-solid chunk of classic science fiction. Clearly inspired by the titans of 1960’s and 1970’s, yet completely unique and by no means derivative. Alvar’s Spear is “old school”, but with all of the positive and none of the negative connotations that term provokes. The book’s overarching message of unity as it conflicts with prejudice feels particularly relevant to today.”
Off the Beaten Path owner, Bob Lingle, said, “Charles has been a great friend to the store, and we look forward to hosting him and introducing the community to his latest work, Witches’ Gambit.”
