JAMESTOWN -More than two hundred runners with varying interests and backgrounds competed in the 9th annual St. Patrick’s Day Dash on Saturday.
The three mile course started at the Northwest Arena and sent participants around and through the west side of the city.
Organizers told WNY News Now nearly 250 competitors showed up.
“There’s a whole community of runners that are just great to be around,” said Grant Vincent. “I’ve met some really good people doing this (running).”
We spoke to a 76-year-old man, who said Saturday’s event was his 24th race of 2018.
“I’ve run over 100 races in the last seven years. I hope it keeps me alive,” joked Ed Russell. “When you get to my age, you need to do some things to motivate yourself.”
The event was organized by the Chautauqua Striders, who received support from several local businesses.
