WNYNewsNow Recognized As A NOAA Weather-Ready Nation Ambassador

JAMESTOWN – WNYNewsNow is proud to announce we are now a ambassador in the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Weather-Ready Nation program.
The NOAA Weather Ready-Nation Ambassador Program is designed to recognize members of the Weather Enterprise who are “improving the nation’s readiness, responsiveness, and overall resilience against extreme weather, water, and climate events.”
As an ambassador, we will work closely with our partners that include private sector forecasters, broadcast news agencies and emergency management officials, under the direction of NOAA and the National Weather Service, to enhance weather safety awareness and coordinate relief efforts after a weather disaster.
WNYNewsNow Chief Forecaster Dakota Hunter said being an official ambassador of the Weather-Ready Nation program is an honor.
“We could not be anymore excited and proud to be a member of such of an incredible program,” said Hunter. “We work very hard to educate our community about impeding severe and winter weather events and steps our community can take to remain safe during times of severe weather.”
Dakota also said that working closely with professionals within this program can better enhance the FirstDefenseWeather team’s mission of providing reliable forecasts and weather safety information.
