Alleged Hit And Run Leads To Felony Arrest And Woman Hospitalized

FALCONER – Shawn L Arnold, 38, of Warren, Pa., has been charged with two felonies after police said he drove his car over a woman’s legs after dragging her in an incident near Falconer Park on Sunday.

Ellicott Police responded to a report of a woman hit by a car at about 4:30 p.m., Sunday, in the area of South Work Street and East Main Street in Falconer. Police said Arnold  was involved in a domestic dispute with the victim, age 38.

Police said that during the argument, the woman tried to get in Arnold’s vehicle. Arnold then backed up, dragging her a short distance, she fell to the ground and Arnold ran over her legs with his vehicle, police said. The victim had a valid order of protection against Arnold.

The victim was treated at the scene by Falconer Fire for several serious injuries to her legs, she was then flown by Star Flight to Hamot Hospital in Erie, Pa., for treatment. Arnold left the scene, police said, but was found charged with first-degree felony reckless endangerment and felony aggravated criminal contempt.

Town of Ellicott Police were assisted at the scene by the New York State Police and the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s office. Arnold was
arrigned in the Town of Ellicott Court and remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail without bail.
