Celoron Man Faces Felony DWI After Pursuit End In Crash

CELORON-A Celoron man is jailed after allegedly fleeing police, crashing his vehicle and driving under the influence early Saturday morning according to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office.

Michael G. Newman, 36, allegedly evaded deputies in the City of Jamestown after they attempted to stop his vehicle for several traffic violations just after 12 AM.

The alleged pursuit continued into the Town Of Ellicott where the Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, Ellicott Police and Lakewood-Busti Police assisted with the chase.

Newman then crashed his car ending the pursuit.

He faced charges of felony DWI due to a previous conviction within the last ten years.

Newman is also charged with felony aggravated unlicensed operation, failing to comply with police officer, operating without ignition interlock device, reckless driving, refusal of pre-screen breath test and was remanded to the county jail with no bail.
