JAMESTOWN – A Jamestown man is in custody after he allegedly held a nine-year-old hostage during a standoff at 22 Spring St. Ext. Upper Apt. which lasted for several hours Sunday, according to the Jamestown Police Department.
Nick Brown, 28, of the above address, faces multiple charges from the incident, along with several outstanding warrants.
Police Chief Harry Snellings told WNYNewsNow moments after the standoff ended that officers originally responded to a domestic violence call at the residence at around 3 a.m.
“When officers arrived, the female victim had already left the residence,” Snellings said. “She briefed our officers. The suspect (later identified by police as Brown) was inside, he had barricaded himself and took a nine-year-old hostage.”
Snellings said police believed Brown was armed with “at least” a knife.
According to Captain Robert Samuelson, the child is now with other family members. Brown, meanwhile, was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
