DA Announces New Crime Prevention Initiative

MAYVILLE – Chautauqua County’s District Attorney announced last week a new crime prevention program that would combine security camera feeds from across the county.
DA Patrick Swanson is heading the “Community CrimeCam” program that would archive camera feeds from home and business owners.
The feeds would be logged into a database and plotted on a map. Law enforcement then could refer to the archive when a crime is committed in the area.
The voluntary program is modeled after similar initiatives across the state.
The prosecutor said it would enhance law enforcement’s crime-solving ability while linking communities in the process.
