Gerry Hostage Situation Ends With Suspect Surrendering

GERRY -According to a well-placed law enforcement  source a hostage situation in the Town of Gerry came to a peaceful ending on Saturday.

That same source told WNY News Now that the incident started with a man holding a woman against her will and the woman eventually broke free and that she sought refuge at the State Police barracks in Jamestown.

New York State Police Captain Eric Balon confirmed that an incident took place. “We have resolved the incident but I can not comment any further,” Balon said when reached by phone.

The source who wished to remain anonymous due to the sensitive nature of the investigation said that the man held authorities at bay holed inside a Wilson Street residence.

The unidentified man was taken into custody shortly after 12:30.
