BUSTI – A high-speed car chase has landed a Jamestown man in the Chautauqua County Jail on a rash of charges after he was detained by Lakewood Busti Police at 11:24 p.m., Monday.
Anthony Charles, 45, 17 Highland Ave., Jamestown, was stopped by police after he was observed allegedly speeding on Hunt Road. Police said he was pulled over but then drove off when illegal drugs were discovered. As he drove off, police said Charles was observed throwing “a large amount” of marijuana from his car.
Charles, who is jailed in lieu of $50,000 bail or $100,000 property bond, was charged with unlawful fleeing a police officer, obstruction of governmental administration, tampering with physical evidence, fourth-degree criminal possession of marijuana, two counts of speeding, reckless driving, obstructed license plate, littering, failure to comply and making an unsafe start.
Charles is to be in Busti Town Court at a later date. Lakewood Busti Police were assisted by the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office.

Fled over marijuana?!?! What a dumbass. Take the charge & go to court. Almost all marijuana charges are slaps on the wrist or a brief stay in county helps towards your sentence.
