Jamestown Man Faces Multiple Felony Welfare Fraud Charges

JAMESTOWN – A City man is facing felony welfare fraud charges after investigators said he received $2,506.00 in unentitled SNAP/Food Stamp benefits.
Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Deputies alleged that Carlos R. Pereira-Alvarez, 46, received the benefits from January 2016 to January 2017 and failed to notify the Chautauqua County Department of Health and Human Services of income within his household.
Pereira-Alvarez was issued appearance tickets for three counts of offering a false instrument for filing in the first degree (Felony), grand larceny in the fourth degree (Felony), welfare fraud in the fourth degree (Felony) and misuse of food stamps (Felony).
He is scheduled to appear in the City of Jamestown Court on a later date.
