JAMESTOWN – Multiple police agencies were involved in a vehicle chase that started in Jamestown and ended just west of the Salamanca exit on I-86 early Monday morning.
Jamestown police attempted a traffic stop at 1:38 a.m. Monday on Steele St. The driver, Jeffrey M. Rigerman, 35, of Arcade, N.Y., attempted to flee officers. Police followed Rigerman into Falconer.
He drove onto I-86 and his vehicle stopped after it left the roadway and crashed into an embankment in the median strip, police said. Rigerman was found to have an active arrest warrant out of Jamestown City Court and Arcade Police Department.
He was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, third-degree unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, reckless driving and several vehicle and traffic infractions.
Jamestown Police were assisted by Ellicott Police, New York State Police, Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Park Police and Salamanca Police. Rigerman was remanded to the city jail pending arraignment.
