Jamestown Police “Tight-Lipped” About Ownbey Murder Investigation

JAMESTOWN – Exactly a week after 22-year-old Dyllan Ownbey was discovered bleeding to death on a dark street corner, police aren’t saying much about the investigation.

With several shootings in the city being investigated and an escalating drug problem, it’s evident that local enforcement has its hands full.

“We’ve received a lot of tips, we’re following up on them, and the investigation is ongoing but we will be very tight-lipped about this,” Jamestown Police Chief Harry Snellings said when reached by phone Tuesday afternoon.

Snellings encouraged citizens to keep reporting information to (716) 483-TIPS or via the free Jamestown PD App which can be downloaded via the Google Play Store or IOS store.

You may also find the app by visiting  JPD’s Facebook page.

Snellings says people are using the app but police are still fielding information over the phone.

“People pick and choose which media they contact us with. We get them through the app and still through our Tips Line,”said Snellings. “I think it’s still balanced, I don’t think one has overtaken the other.”

The funeral for Dylan Ownbey was held on Monday at Peterson Funeral Home in Frewsburg.
