JPD Alleges Man Wanted By County For Selling, Possessing Meth Resisted Arrest

JAMESTOWN-A man arrested Monday on warrants for selling and possessing methamphetamine, as WNYNewsNow previously published, was actually arrested by JPD following a foot chase, according to a news release sent out by the agency on Friday afternoon.

The officer reportedly caught up to Brandon L. Murphy, 22, in the common hallway of an apartment. Murphy was charged with Resisting Arrest, along with the two warrants.

Murphy was arraigned and held and remanded to Chautauqua County Jail following his appearance.

A news release sent out by the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force Thursday indicates that Murphy was “located and arrested in the City of Jamestown” between 11:00 – 11:15 am.

Jamestown Police released information on the Murphy arrest Friday afternoon. JPD says he was taken into custody 90 minutes after the Sheriff’s Office said they “located and arrested him.

A clerk with Jamestown City Courts confirmed the information in JPD’s release, and they also said he was processed and remanded from city court.

When reached by phone and asked about the discrepancy between the two times on the two separate releases, Sheriff Joe Gerace said that his Task Force may have made an error on their release.

As of Friday afternoon, Murphy is still incarcerated in Mayville.

Murphy’s next court appearance is January 25th.
