JAMESTOWN-A city man was taken into custody after Friday’s standoff at 131 Baker St.
Jamestown Police Captain Robert Samuelson identified the man as Alberto J. Acevedo, 27, who was previously charged in an April 2014 heroin raid at 228 E. 2nd St. Acevedo was also charged with 2nd degree Menacing in 2012.
Acevedo was released from prison in January for 3rd degree Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and 4th degree Grand Larceny (no auto) per the NYS Department of Corrections Parolee Lookup.

Jamestown Police Chief Harry Snellings told WNYNewsNow the man, whom he didn’t originally identify despite stating he was wanted on several warrants for Parole Violations, came to the address after a domestic violence incident in which he earlier told crews occurred on 242 McKinley Ave.
Snellings additionally said a detective and others attempted to negotiate with the man, to no avail.
“It (communication) wasn’t going anywhere, so we deployed our tactical team,” Snellings said. “We started evacuating the surrounding houses and set up a perimeter in the neighborhood.”
The man was sent to UMPC Chautauqua for physical evaluation. He will later be transferred to County Jail.
