Mobile Meth Lab Discovered After Police Chase Ends

BUSTI – Lakewood-Busti Police say they discovered an active meth lab in a vehicle following a high-speed pursuit Monday evening.
Officers reportedly responded to a larceny-in-progress at the Lakewood Walmart on East Fairmount Avenue. Police say the officers tried to conduct a traffic stop of the suspect’s vehicle when the driver, Tyler R. Elsesser, 32, allegedly fled westbound on Fairmount Avenue.
The chase reportedly ended on Rt. 474 in the Town of Harmony.
Elsesser was charged with third degree unlawful possession of methamphetamine, one count each of second and seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminally using drug paraphernalia, petit larceny and second degree aggravated unlicensed operation.
Elsesser was arraigned and remanded to County Jail on $30,000 bail, according to the Sheriff’s Website.
The Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force and State Police Contaminated Crime Scene Emergency Response Team assisted in the investigation.
