LAKEWOOD – Police said an 11-year-old from Ohio is responsible for phoning in a bomb threat to the Chautauqua Mall Game Stop Store Tuesday night.
The store received the call around 7:12 p.m,. stating “a man with a camera was coming to the store and he has a bomb.”
The person on the other end then hung up the phone.
Lakewood-Busti Police were called and ordered an evacuation of the mall.
The Sheriff’s K-9 assisted Lakewood-Busti Police’s K-9 with sweeping the inside and outside of the mall. The Chautauqua County Bomb Squad was also called in to help.
Through an investigation, officers learned that a juvenile in Ohio allegedly phoned the threat in.
The 11-year-old admitted to local police in Ohio that the phone call was a joke.
Lakewood-Busti Police were assisted by the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, Ohio State Police and the Tallmadge Police Department in Ohio.
Police say charges could be placed pending investigation.
