Police Charge City Man After Alleged Attempted Shoplifting

JAMESTOWN – Jamestown police have charged Fernando Velazquez, 31, of Jamestown, with petit larceny and false personation after he allegedly tried taking unpaid for items from Tops Friendly Market, Washington Street, at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday.
Police said they were called to Tops for a suspect in  custody. Velazquez, according to police, tried taking a full shopping cart of unpaid items and initially gave police a false name. He was transported to the city jail and arraignment is pending.
