Sheriffs Release Memorial Day Weekend Crackdown Statistics

MAYVILLE-Police agencies throughout the county participated in a state-sponsored DWI crackdown May 26th-28th, yielding 70 vehicle stops, arrests and summons per the County Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office said agencies started another collaboration Friday for the Fourth of July Weekend. The initiative will reportedly end Tuesday, July 4th.

“Removing intoxicated drivers from Chautauqua County roadways is one of our top priorities,” Sheriff Joseph Gerace said. “If you choose to drink, don’t drive.”

“Drunk drivers not only put themselves in danger, they threaten everyone who shares the highway with them.
