Sherman Woman Jailed For Allegedly Violating Custody Order

SHERMAN – Avita Persaud, 38, of Sherman was charged Monday with second-degree custodial interference after New York State Police said she took her children from another state without their father’s permission.
Troopers received a complaint from an investigator in Texas who reported that Persaud took her two children to Florida and ultimately to New York approximately 21 days prior, in violation of a custody agreement between her and the children’s father.  Persaud was located at a residence in Sherman and arrested.
Persaud was then processed and arraigned in Town of Sherman Court and remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail.  The two children were left in the care of a family member.
