Two Minors Taken Into Custody Following School Threats

MAYVILLE – Two area students were taken into custody by New York State Police following threats to multiple area schools, according to State Police Capt. Eric Balon.
Taken into police custody were a 17-year-old Chautauqua Lake Central School student and a 15-year-old Ashville BOCES student, police said. They were taken into custody under the state’s mental hygiene law. Both students were transported to area hospitals for evaluation and the investigation is continuing.
Both schools were under lockout protocol after threats were received. Troopers responded to both schools to safeguard students, faculty and staff.
Balon said all threats are taken at face value and police fully investigate all threats.
