Westfield Man Charged With Attempted Arson In Vehicle Vs. Train Accident

RIPLEY – Christopher J. Weston, 25, of Jefferson Street, Westfield, was arrested and charged with third-degree attempted arson in connection with a vehicle vs. train accident that occurred at the Station Road/Northern Southern RR Crossing in July, according to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office.
Weston and a 16-year-old allegedly poured gasoline inside a vehicle belonging to Weston before placing the vehicle onto the train tracks. The Sheriff’s Office said this was done so that a train would strike the vehicle, and then set it on fire.
Weston was also charged with unlawful interference with a railroad train, along with the teen. He was remanded to Chautauqua County Jail on $5,000 cash/$10,000 property bond.
The teen was released under supervision.
