Mayor Provides Updates On Downtown Projects

JAMESTOWN – Mayor Sam Teresi said that the Jamestown Brewing Company is hoping to open in December or shortly after New Years Day despite a series of construction delays.
“The business is racing towards completion with getting all of the equipment installed, and getting the State’s Department of Health’s permit approval to start brewing beer,” Teresi said. “There are some delays from the developer, the landlord’s side, on the renovation, that is delaying the opening.”
Father and son, John McLellan Sr. and John McLellan Jr., own the business.
WNYNewsNow also asked Teresi about the status of the Doubletree By Hilton Hotel. Teresi has previously stated that the hotel is expected to open by early December.
However, Doubletree By Hilton Hotel General Manager Brandon Wade told WNYNewsNow that the hotel is now looking at an opening sometime between late December and early January.
Hamister Group, LLC. is the hotel’s developer.
Teresi said that the projects, whether it’s the hotel, brewery, or recently-opened National Comedy Center, have created a buzz and slight economical boost to the downtown corridor.
“I’ve been noticing more out-of-state license plates, and people milling around over there,” Teresi said. “We’ve heard from other businesses and restaurants downtown, that they’ve seen a slight uptick from the standpoint of customers that are in town and are visiting the Comedy Center.”
“We’ve heard anecdotal information from people that have had friends and relatives, or clients in town, that have been universally impressed by it.”
