WESTERN NEW YORK – One of the state’s most popular big game hunting seasons starts Saturday.
New York State DEC officials say the regular firearms season for deer and bear open tomorrow morning.
Officials remind hunters to be safe, have fun, and enjoy the environment. They also encourage hunters to pass up shots on young bucks.
The regulated hunting of deer and bear is one of the most important parts of conservation of wildlife in New York, according to officials.
Deer hunting is also credited with improving the regional economy.
