WASHINGTON – The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will be testing an Emergency Alert System.
On September 20th at 2:18 p.m. EDT the test alert will go to all Emergency Alert System participants and participating mobile service (CMS) providers.
The test message will read the following: “THIS IS A TEST of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System. No action is needed.”
The alert will be transmitted in English and Spanish and include audio and text of the test.
If there are complications, a backup date for the test is on October 3, 2018.
