Opioid Use Added To Medical Marijuana List

ALBANY – Opioid use will be added as a qualifying condition for Medical Marijuana in New York State.
The state’s Department of Health announced Monday Opioid use joins 12 other qualifying conditions.
Currently only those with Cancer, Aids, Parkinson’s and Epilepsy qualify for the drug.
The new change is in response to the increasing amount of opioid-related deaths that have happened in recent years.
The Department of Health says Marijuana can be an effective treatment for pain and decreases the chances of dependence.
