JAMESTOWN-The Jamestown Police Department and State Police will participate in Operation Safe Stop Thursday according to JPD.
Officers will follow school buses to ensure drivers comply with flashing red lights when buses discharge students. Penalties for passing a stopped school bus include a fine of $250-$400 and up to 30 days in jail.
A second offense could lead to a $600-$750 fine and up to 180 days in jail.
Operators are reminded to slow down and anticipate frequent stops with school buses.
