ALBANY – Sitting down a Thanksgiving Day dinner of turkey, sweet potatoes, rolls, carrots, celery and pumpkin pie will cost slightly less this holiday season than it did last year.
The New York Farm Bureau did a survey of the average cost of a traditional Thanksgiving Day dinner with a 16-pound turkey and came up with $44.74. The survey last year showed the same meal cost $46.63, meaning this year’s family and friends meal is $1.89 less.
Volunteer shoppers sampled prices in different parts of the state to come up with the average cost for 12 traditional Thanksgiving food items.
