Bonnies Tough Defense Spurs Road Win In Buffalo, 73-62

BUFFALO -St. Bonaventure senior guard Jaylen Adams returned to the lineup just in time to help the Bonnies beat Buffalo 73-62 on Saturday.

Adams started and played in his first game this season after being sidelined with a sprained ankle.

He  finished with nine points, four rebounds and two assists, playing 28 minutes.

Another one of St. Bonaventure’s star guards, Matt Monley, notched his fourth 20-point game of the season, scoring a game high 25 points.

CJ Massinburg and Nick Peters each scored 21 points for the Bulls (4-3), who were seeking a sweep of Big Four opponents after wins over Canisius and Niagara this season.

Collectively, Buffalo came in averaging 85 points per game but the Bonnies held them in check down the stretch when Buffalo shot just 24 percent shooting in the second half.

Buffalo led 35-32 at halftime but St. Bonaventure rallied to lead over the final nine minutes using a combination of fundamentally sound defense and some key baskets down the stretch to pull away.

The Bonnies will continue their road trip when they play Canisius on Wednesday.
