Driver Cited After Box Truck Crashes Into Silver Creek House

SILVER CREEK – The driver of a box truck that crashed into the residence of 323 Central Ave. Thursday morning is facing traffic charges.

Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office citied Jacob I. Bostic, 25, of Buffalo with speed unreasonable, unsafe lane change, crossing over hazard markings and leaving a designated truck route.
First responders report that the upstairs tenants of the two-story apartment house struck were home at the time but uninjured. The downstairs tenants were not home at the time.
The truck was leaking diesel fuel and struck the house after failing to negotiate the curve on Central Avenue.
The truck also struck multiple street signs and a tree before striking the house.
Officials said the structure was knocked 2 1/2 feet off its foundation.
The driver of the truck was transported to Lake Shore Hospital with apparent minor injuries.
Silver Creek Firefighters, Chautauqua County EMS and the county’s Emergency Services are on scene.
Occupants of the building are being assisted by the Red Cross to find temporary shelter.
