JAMESTOWN – The Jamestown Fire Department battled a fire at a single family home behind 378 Willard St. on Thursday evening.
County Dispatch said the call came in shortly before 10:00.
Fire Chief Chet Harvey told WNY News Now that the initial call indicated that the house was occupied, but when fire crews arrived, they found nobody inside.
Neighbors watched as firefighters worked feverishly to bring the fire under control.
A resident, who said he witnessed flames shooting out of the fully engulfed house, credits barking dogs with helping him notice the fire.
“I just came out to see what my mom’s dogs were barking about,” said Timothy Post. “I had my mom call 911, and they showed up real quick.”
Post said he knows the people that live in the home.
“My friend’s dad lives there, he’s at work, he’s coming home,” said Post.
