Buffalo VA Surgeries Resume Following Investigation

BUFFALO – Surgical procedures at the Buffalo VA Hospital have resumed following an investigation into discoloration found in sterilization packages.
The hospital halted all surgeries on Tuesday out of an abundance of caution.
This is not the first time that sterilization concerns arose in the hospital. The Medical Center was sighted back in 2014 for sterilization issues. In addition, the Buffalo VA notified more than 500 patients of a potential infection risk.
A statement released by the VA said that the discoloration on Tuesday was discovered during a routine check, and that the discoloration was attributed to natural elements found in the water used in the sterilization process, and posed no risk to their patients.
