JAMESTOWN- A multi-billion dollar company that makes cancer drugs said Tuesday they hope to bring hundreds of jobs to Chautauqua County.
Athenix Biotech’s VP of Corporate Development Teresi Barri spoke to WNYNewsNow’s Justin Gould during a meeting of the county’s Industrial Development Agency.
“The economy will certainly be boosted by the fact that there will be a major development underway for a long period of time, and those jobs will certainly come into play as the project develops,” Barri said. “We are certainly looking forward to seeing that pan out.”
“The IDA will provide tax abatements for Athenix, ” IDA Administrative Director Kevin Sandvidge said. “Without them, this project would have been questionable to move forward.”
The IDA voted during its meeting to deviate from its uniform tax exemption policy in order to accommodate this massive project slated for groundbreaking in a few months.
