BEMUS POINT – Local chicken wing lovers have a chance to help the Village Casino re-set the world record for most chicken wings eaten in a 24-hour period.
And they’ll have the 10,000 Maniacs performing at 6:30 p.m. Sunday to encourage them.
Hoping to serve 40,000 wings, the record attempt will not only set the record for inclusion in the Guinness Book of World Records, but will benefit the Bemus Point Ferry, the Bemus Point Library, the Bemus Point Volunteer Fire Department and the local Red Cross chapter.
The current record is 29,000 wings but officials are aiming to crush the record by serving 40,000 wings.
The event will be held as a cash only event from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.
Chicken wings will be sold for $1 each in increments of 10, 15, and 20.
Live music and a free Kid Zone will be in the park throughout the event with the celebration culminating in the performance of 10,000 Maniacs at 6:30 p.m.
