DUNKIRK – The cause of a Sunday evening blaze that destroyed one Dunkirk home and damaged two others remains under investigation, according to the Dunkirk Fire Department.
At 11:08 p.m., Sunday, the Dunkirk Fire Department reported to a structure fire at 187 Lakeshore Drive East. Fire officials said an unoccupied residence at 191 Lakeshore Dr. East, was fully involved in fire with fire extending to the neighboring properties at 187 Lakeshore Dr. East and 105 Beagle St.
Efforts were made to control the fires at the neighboring houses and prevent further extension from 191 Lakeshore Dr. East.
The fires in the neighboring house were extinguished by advancing hose lines into each structure.
The fire at 191 Lakeshore Dr. East was extinguished by using multiple large fire streams.
An extensive overhaul was done of all three residences. The scene was cleared at 2:55 a.m.
Residents of the two occupied homes are being assisted by The Red Cross. No injuries were reported.
Mutual aid was given by the Fredonia Fire Department and East Town of Dunkirk Fire Department.
