Chautauqua County STOP-DWI Crackdown Nets Three Drunk Driving Arrests

MAYVILLE – Three people were arrested for drunk driving, and 95 other vehicle stops, arrests and summonses were issued during a recent  New York State STOP-DWI Labor Day Enforcement Crackdown that the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office and New York State Police collaborated on.
The crackdown took place between August 17 and September 3rd, and was funded by a 2017-2018 grant from the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee as part of a national crackdown effort.
Sheriff Joseph A. Gerace said, “Removing intoxicated drivers from Chautauqua County roadways is one of our top priorities. If you choose to drink, don’t drive. Drunk drivers not only put themselves in danger, they threaten everyone who shares the highway with them.”
The Chautauqua County STOP-DWI Program is funded by fines collected from convicted drunk drivers.
