UPDATE: A 39-year-old unidentified male died at WCA Hospital as the result of Sunday’s fire per Jamestown Police. The victim’s dog also reportedly perished due to excessive smoke inhalation.
Authorities reportedly deemed the fire as an accident with food left unattended on the stove.
JAMESTOWN-City fire fighters responded to a report of heavy smoke in the area of Myrtle St. and Hazeltine Ave. just after 1 AM Sunday.
Fire officials told WNYNewsNow’s Ryan Hedrick that the house was a two story apartment building that was occupied at the time of the blaze.
Jamestown Police said the investigation continues and as of 3 AM Sunday no word on a cause.
This fire just one week after multiple suspected arsons in the City of Jamestown.
