JAMESTOWN – Chautauqua County Executive George Borrello said that the county has a new location for the CARTS system’s South County hub and officials are working to finalize a deal.
In an interview with WNYNewsNow Monday afternoon, Borrello said that specific details are being worked out, and that, he couldn’t disclose the location yet.
“We are working on finalizing a lease agreement,” Borrello said. “With some assistance from outside organizations, this should be done at no cost to county taxpayers.”
“I’m confident that this location is going to be much better and a more suitable spot than in front of the train station.”
Borrello said that a new public bathroom facility and other services will be provided in the new location once it undergoes renovations. The location is currently unoccupied.
The CARTS system previously had its hub outside of the West Second Street train station, which is now home to the National Comedy Center’s gift shop. Earlier this year, the hub was temporarily moved to Pine Street between East Third and Fourth Streets.
The hub was scheduled to move again in August to a permanent location, but the move was delayed due to the process of finding a suitable location.
