County Sheriff’s Office Officials Attend State Jail Conference

SARATOGA SPRINGS – Chautauqua County Sheriff Joe Gerace has announced that members of his staff attended a state jail administrators continuing education conference in Saratoga Springs.

The Jail Administrators’ Continuing Education Conference at the Gideon Putnam Hotel was attended by officials from across the state. Attending from Chautauqua County were Captain James Crowell, Jail Warden, and Lt. Douglas Mulson, Jail Lieutenant.

Organized by the NYS Sheriffs’ Association, the yearly conference brings corrections professionals from around the state together to share best practices and new trends impacting their jails. Presentations included:Niagara County Deputy Chief Dan Engert discussed Critical Incident Training and Substance Abuse Inmate Housing in Niagara.

DOCCS Assistant Commissioner Anne Marie McGrath presented on State DOCCS Admission and Transport Policies.

Narelle Ellendon, Opioid Program Manager AIDS Institute, NYS, spoke about Opioid Overdose Prevention Training Albany County Jail Administrator Mike Lyons presented on Immigrant Housing in Albany County.

Carrie Hill, Director of the National Center for jail Operations, National Sheriffs’ Association presented on Wednesday, doing an intensive Legal Issues Review.
