County To Hold Best Tasting Drinking Water Contest June 16 At Mall

LAKEWOOD – There is wine tasting and beer tasting and even whiskey tasting. But in Chautauqua County, there is a very popular water tasting event that has become an annual tradition.
The title of Best Tasting Drinking Water in Chautauqua County for 2018 is up for grabs Saturday, June  16, at the Chautauqua Mall.
Participants can taste the waters and vote for the best tasting. This year the water war is between the villages of Cherry Creek, Mayville, Sinclairville and Westfield; the City of Jamestown; and the towns of Carroll (Frewsburg) and Ripley.
The contest is held annually to provide an opportunity for both water professionals and the communities they serve to join together in recognizing the vital role water plays in daily lives. The contest is co-sponsored by the Chautauqua County Department of Health and Human Services, the County Water Works Association and the County Water Quality Task Force. The winner from the county competition will go on to represent Chautauqua County in the Western New York regional competition and possibly the statewide competition.
