Fallen Trooper Memorialized As ‘True Hero’ At Funeral

ALFRED – Hundreds of fellow police officers and members of the general public filled the Alfred university James McLane Physical Education Center Sunday to pay respects and say a final farewell to fallen New York State Police Trooper Nicholas F. Clark, who  was killed last week responding to a domestic call.
“Nicholas Clark answered our call on Sunday,” New York State Police Superintendent George Beach II told those packing the facility during Sunday’s funeral. “His life was taken because he did what we asked him to do.”
Beach said Clark was a “true hero” because he put himself in harm’s way so others could remain safe.

Fighting back tears, Beach ended his words with a choked up “Nicholas Clark, Badge 5528, end of watch, 2 July 2018.”
He also had a message for Clark’s family, telling them “I promise we will never leave you.”
Trooper Clark, 29, was among responders to a 3:30 a.m., Monday, 911 call that sent law enforcement to 10041 Welch Road, Erwin, just south of Corning.

Clark was hit by buck shot fired by Bradford School Principal  Steven Kiley, who then turned the gun on himself. The investigation continues.
