Grammy Award Winning Singer Cancels First Show Scheduled For New Amphitheater

CHAUTAUQUA-18 time Grammy Award Winning singer Aretha Franklin has canceled her scheduled performance at the new Amphitheater at Chautauqua Institution this summer; Jay Leno will reportedly perform in her place. 

According to the Institution’s website, the 75-year-old reportedly canceled due to illness.

Back in 2014, Jay Leno performed to a sold-out crowd in downtown Jamestown at the formerly known Jamestown Savings Bank Arena as part of Lucy Comedy Fest.

In 2016, ABC News reported that Franklin canceled a number of shows across the country after doctors ordered her to rest.

Tickets to the sold-out Franklin concert will be accepted at Leno’s performance.

Those wishing to return their tickets should call the Institution’s ticket office before the event.

Leno will perform Saturday, June 24, 2017, at 8:15 PM.
