Gus Macker Returns To Jamestown, Lacking Female Players According To Ladies First Team

JAMESTOWN-The famed Gus Macker 3-on-3 basketball tournament returned to downtown Saturday, but unlike year’s past, this tourney lacked female players.

Nadine Glover, team captain of Ladies First, told WNYNewsNow that Jamestown has good players, but no one shows up to participate.

“I think we need more,” Nadine said. “There’s a lot of good people, but there are only five groups participating in the tournament this year.”

The event, formerly know as “Street JAM”, was canceled in 2016 after low player turnout. Recently the Post-Journal, Media One Group and city of Jamestown revived the tourney.

According to the Post-Journal twenty percent of net proceeds from this year’s tournament will be donated to the Alex Foulk Fund.
