Jamestown Native Leading SUNY Geneseo Basketball In Scoring

GENESEO- Former Jamestown Red Raider, Zach Panebianco, is establishing himself as one of Western New York’s brightest basketball talents.

Panebianco transferred from Roberts Wesleyan College this season, a decision that has paid off thus far.

He started blazing hot, scoring double digits in five consecutive games, including a 21-point performance against Oneonta on December 1st.

Opponents are paying closer attention to him after an impressive start to the year. During the month of November, he averaged 17 points, playing about 30 minutes a game.

In his debut against Marymount Va. on September 18th, he scored 23 points and shot 60 percent from the field.

While attending Jamestown High School, he garnered MVP honors for his performance against Newburgh Free Academy in the state title game.

The Red Raiders cruised to victory in that game, 41-20.

His football jersey is now retired at the school.

On Tuesday night, Geneseo committed 17 turnovers in an 82-60 loss to the University of Rochester.
