JAMESTOWN – The JCC Women’s Basketball teamed jumped to a 3-0 start after defeating the Lady Corning Community College Red Barons , 69-50 on Sunday.
The men, meanwhile, lost Sunday to Corning, 75-62.
Nicole Johnson led the Lady Jayhawks with 17 points. Johnson also had four rebounds, three assists, and four steals.
Taylor Phelps added 14 points, along with five rebounds, and five steals.
Alexis Rodenbaugh also scored 14 points. Rodenbaugh added four rebounds, five assists, and three steals.
The Lady Red Barons made just 15-52 shots (28.8%.)
In the men’s game, Corning outscored the Jayhawks in the second half, 41-30.
Chris Robson led the JCC men’s team with 16 points. Robson also drilled four three-pointers and had four steals.
Jared Fish chipped in with 12 points, five rebounds, and three assists.
For the Red Barons, Christian Simmons, and Jon Ward had double-doubles. Simmons finished with 20 points, and 11 rebounds. Ward had 18 points, 10 rebounds, and also blocked four shots.
The JCC basketball teams will remain at home for their next games on Thursday against the University of Pittsburgh-Titusville.
Tip-off for the women’s game will be at 5 p.m. The men’s game starts at 7 p.m.
