Jobs Rate Climbs, But So Does Unemployment Rate

WASHINGTON – Unemployment in the nation rose in June to 4 percent, but the economy also added 213,000 jobs nationally.
For the first time in about a year, the jobless rate increased while wages remained barely above the inflation rate.
The New York State unemployment rate was 4.6 percent in June, up slightly from 4.5 percent in May.
Chautauqua County’s rate was 4.8 percent in May, the latest information available. In May, the last month of data available, Jamestown’s unemployment rate was 5.9 percent, down from 6.6 percent in April.
